Meet John and Betty,

both have entered their late 70’s and have enjoyed a fantastic life so far! They look at their children and decide they want to contribute to the future generations of their family by leaving money behind for their grandchildren to attend a university. Unfortunately, John and Betty have some health issues that would not allow them to qualify for a joint life insurance policy.

They meet with their financial advisor, Tom, who suggests a Harbourview fixed indexed annuity. He explains that this contract will allow their money to grow tax-deferred while protecting their principal against market volatility. Additionally, with the 10% free withdrawal feature, John and Betty will have access to funds should they need it, starting in the second contract year.

In addition, recognizing that they are in their late 70s, Tom also shares with them that the Harbourview Fixed Indexed Annuity offers a Nursing Home Confinement and Terminal Illness Waiver. Should they enter a nursing care facility or become terminally ill, John and Betty may have access to their account value avoiding any potential surrender charges.*

Of course, the true benefit of buying this policy will be the ability for them to pass on the value of the contract to their four grandchildren.

With Tom’s guidance, they decided to purchase a $100,000 Harbourview Fixed Indexed Annuity and divide their allocations equally between the S&P 500 Annual Point-to-Point with Cap Rate, the Nasdaq-100 Annual Point-to-Point with Cap Rate, and the Russell 2000 Point-to-Point with Cap Rate. The contract has an initial guarantee period of 10 years and no withdrawals are taken.

So, let’s look at a hypothetical example of John and Betty’s potential gains over the initial 10-year guarantee period of their contract...

The Details:

Product: Harbourview FIA

Premium Amount: $100,000

Annual Effective Rate: 6.94%

Index Allocation Option(s):
S&P 500 Annual Point-to-Point w/ Cap Rate – 34%
Nasdaq-100 Annual Point-to-Point w/ Cap Rate – 33%
Russell 2000 Annual Point-to-Point w/ Cap Rate – 33%

The table to the right illustrates the contract value growth at the end of each contract year based on the most recent ten years of returns based on the chosen crediting strategies. John and Betty were exposed to significant market gains during these ten years. By the end of year 10, John and Betty had earned $113,065 in interest, bringing their total contract value to $213,065. As you can see in year 7, John and Betty’s principal remained protected against market volatility. The chart below shows the steady growth of the account value throughout their Harbourview FIA contract period.
